Friday 31st July, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

We will be having SEDA visit our school again, starting today.  They will be teaching you football skills and our time is after recess.  You will be having 4 SEDA sessions, including today.

This means that we will not be able to have Maths Rotations on Fridays.  They have been moved to Monday morning.

Today is the last day of Book Fair.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Congratulations on having a really good score so far this week regarding attendance.  Let’s see if we can get the perfect score of 0 points.

The Book Fair finishes tomorrow so if you would like to buy a book come into the Library either before or after school.  Did you get your photo taken with The Very Cranky Bear yesterday?

We will be having Concert Practice at our usual time after Maths Rotations today.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Mrs. Lovell will be taking you for P.E. today as Mr. Barbour is teaching Mrs. Joyce’s grade whilst she is in Brazil.

We will be having the Maths lesson we missed out on yesterday after P.E. today, so Mrs. Lovell will be bringing you back to the classroom after your P.E. session.

Don’t forget that a very special character is visiting the Library after school today and that you can get your photo taken with him.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Mrs. Robinson will be coming in after recess to watch you with our Book Club lesson.  She will be particularly looking for children who are being active learners in both the book club chats as well as the recording part of the lesson.

You will be able to do your homework with Mr. Andrew at lunchtime today.  The homework is very similar to last week’s homework.

Have you seen how many hits we have had on this site?  We are getting very close to quite a large number.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Monday 27th July, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

The Pie Orders are due in today.  This is a fundraiser to help raise money for our school.

Don’t forget that the Book Fair is on for all of this week with The Very Cranky Bear coming to the Library after school on Wednesday.

I’m sure you enjoyed your Free Play on Friday.  It was great to see so many children playing with each other as well as with the teachers.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Homework – Term 3 Week 3

This term we will be using OWIs to help us understand the books we read. When completing an OWI it makes us determine important facts, ask open-ended questions and make inferences for our questions. We present our OWI in a three column note with the headings Observe, Wonder and Infer.

Look carefully at the image below. What do you observe? What do you wonder? What do you infer? Remember to make sure that your observation is just what you can see – with no inferring.

Dear 3 / 4 K,

The Very Cranky Bear colouring-in competition entries are due in today.  I will give them to Mrs. Charleston and the winner will receive a $10 Book Voucher to spend at the Book Fair.  The Book Fair will continue Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week.  You can go there before or after school and buy some great books.  Don’t forget that The Very Cranky Bear will be making an appearance at the Book Fair after school on Wednesday where you can get a photo taken with him.

We have got Unit Assembly after lunch today which will be followed by Free Play, weather permitting.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Thursday 23rd July, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

The Grade 4 girls will be having a talk with a Community Health Nurse this morning regarding personal development.  Mrs. Hammet will be going with them.

We have got Maths Rotations and Concert Practice after recess today.

Don’t forget about the Book Fair in the Library.  I will be giving you some time today to start colouring in The Very Cranky Bear picture.  This is a competition and the winner will receive a $10 voucher to spend at the Book Fair.  Entries are due in tomorrow.

Also due tomorrow is this week’s homework.  It has been great to see so many children being organised and getting it done nice and early in the week.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Wednesday 22nd July, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

We will be going to see the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ performance first thing this morning.  Those children who haven’t paid will be looked after by Mr. Barbour.

You will have your Library session after P.E. today and I will ask Mr. Barbour to bring you back to the classroom so that you can get your Library books.

It was great to see so many children doing their homework in Mrs. Joyce’s room yesterday at lunchtime.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Tuesday 21st July, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

The Beauty and the Beast performance is tomorrow morning at 9.00 am.  Please be at school on time.  It would be great if everybody could go and see this show so get your money and forms into the office today.

We will have to change our Library time this week as we will be at the performance.  I will need to work out a suitable time with Mrs. Charleston.

You can complete this week’s homework by going to Mrs. Joyce’s room at lunch time today.  The homework is very similar to the excellent work you did yesterday when doing an OWI (Observe, Wonder, Infer).

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin
