Dear 3 / 4 K,

Today is Harmony Day.  We will be doing some tasks related to this very important day, including going on with our persuasive piece of writing for Inquiry, which is very closely linked to Harmony Day.

The money and forms for Bongo Brothers is due in today.  It would be great if everybody could go and see this performance which is based on different types of music including Hip Hop.

Interpreting Graphs

Graphs are used to present data. It is very important to be able to read graphs so you can learn information about the days being presented.

When reading graphs you need to:
– Look at what type of graph it is.
– Know what the topic/data is by reading headings, labels and keys.
– Look at the axis and scales and see what the scale is counting by.
– Look at and read keys to learn important information about a graph.

Today you will pick one of the graphs below and interpret the graph and learn information about the data that has been presented. There are two types of graphs below: bar graphs and pie graphs.

Look at a graph and complete the following tasks in your maths journal…
– Write the title of your graph.
– Write the type of graph you are looking at.
– Explain the most common piece of data in the graph and the total amount of that data.
– Explain the least common piece of days in the graph and the total amount of that data.

Dear 3 / 4 K,

You will be writing your persuasive letter for your Inquiry question this morning.  You will need to include some of the persuasive devices that Mrs. Robinson used in her writing about convincing people that everybody should learn how to cook.

The forms and money for Bongo Brothers are due in on Monday.  If you would like to see this performance which looks at different types of music including Hip-Hop then please get these in on time.

Don’t forget about the Premier’s Reading Challenge forms and Walking Excursion forms for those children who haven’t returned them yet.
