Monday 1st August, 2016

Dear 3 / 4 K,

This week’s homework has been posted onto the blog.  I have got paper copies for those children who would like to do their homework on a sheet of paper.  There were quite a few children who didn’t do their homework last week and therefore missed out on the game at Unit Assembly.  The grade’s goal is for everybody to complete their homework this week.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I will give time for children to continue working on their story about the animal they met.  The story needs to include the paragraph which describes one particular emotion.  Those children who have done a good job with their story will be able to type it up.

We will be using the I-pads in the second hour to locate some information about the causes for a lack of education around the world.  You will be filling out your Í Can Read Informational Texts’ sheet.

We have got Maths Rotations as normal the hour before lunch today.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Thursday 28th July, 2016

Dear 3 / 4 K,

After recess the Grade 4 girls will be going to a Health talk with all the other Grade 4 and Grade 5 girls from this school.  Mrs. Joyce will be going with you and she will collect you from the classroom and will also bring you back.

As a result we will not be able to have Maths Rotations.  Mr. Barbour will be taking Mrs. Joyce’s grade whilst she is at the talk.  Because most of the children in this grade are in my Maths Rotation we will still be able to do what we would normally be doing in our Maths Rotations anyway.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Wednesday 27th July, 2016

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Clifford the Big Red Dog is coming to Book Fair after school tonight.  You can get your photo taken with Clifford for free if you go.  Tomorrow is the last day that you can buy books from the Book Fair.

In the Computer Lab today you will be able to type up your piece of writing describing a happy dog.

Homework is due in on Friday.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Mr. Haberl, Mr. Andrew, Mrs. Robinson or Miss Crowe will be coming in at some stage this week to watch your learning.  They will be asking questions about what you are learning and how you will know if you are successful.

I have a meeting after recess and another teacher will be taking you for that lesson.  It will be another lesson about maps, this time focussing on grid co-ordinates.

I will hand out this week’s homework sheet for those children who would like to do it on a paper copy.  It is due Friday morning.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Monday 25th July, 2016

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Miss Emma will be back in our classroom on Wednesday as that is the day Mrs. Frendo comes back to school.  Miss Boyes will be helping us in our grade today and tomorrow.

We have got concert practice the half hour before recess.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Homework – Term 3 Week 3

This is a Primary School in Yemen.  This is the whole school in the picture. It is a one-room primary school in a tiny village in a mountainous, largely agricultural region of Yemen. There is no electricity at this school. The children are aged between 5 and 12.  The older children help to teach the younger ones.

Write down what you Observe, Wonder and Infer from this picture and text.

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I will be taking a photo today of all those children who have been at school All Day / Every Day this week.  It will go in next week’s newsletter.

You will have your second session of Maths Rotations today.  It will be the hour before lunch.

Today is Miss Dye’s last day in our classroom.  The school that she attends for her tertiary education starts their second semester on Monday.  We would like to thank you for all your help in our grade over the past 2 weeks.  Thank you Miss Dye.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin
