Friday 1st May, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

It is the last day at LRPS for 2 of our students today.  Both Shakayla and Jamie will be leaving today and starting at their new schools on Monday.  It has been great to have both of these children in our class this year and we wish them all the best at their new schools.

We have got Maths Rotations the hour before recess today and SEDA after recess.

Don’t forget to bring the Premier’s Reading Challenge forms, Dental forms and the Ladies Afternoon Tea forms back to school as well as any cans for the ‘Give a Can, Give a Damn’ appeal.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

You have now had a practice run of all NAPLAN tests.  I will be using these results to help you with your understanding of each area starting with some of the Language Conventions questions this morning.

You have got Maths Rotations after recess.

I hope you gave the note about the Working Bee to an adult last night.  It will be held from 2.00 pm till around 5.00 pm.

Don’t forget that homework is due by 8.45 am tomorrow morning.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

It was great to see you so interested about minibeasts yesterday.  You will be having another couple of lessons on minibeasts today.  One of those lessons will be held in the Computer Lab after P.E.  I will get Mrs. Lovell to take you there at the end of your P.E. lesson.

You can complete your homework in Mrs. Joyce’s room at lunchtime today.  Remember it needs to be done by Friday morning at 8.45 sm.

I hope you gave your invitation to an adult female who helps you with your learning.  The invitation is for them to attend a special Ladies’ Afternoon Tea next Tuesday afternoon in the BER building.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Tuesday 28th April, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I have an invitation to the LRPS Afternoon Tea for each of you that you can give to a female adult in your lives who helps you with your learning.  Last year the school had a Bloke’s Night for the male adults in your lives so now it’s the ladies turn to have something special.  It will be held in the BER Building next Tuesday.

Homework is due by 8.45 am this Friday morning.  You can do it in Mrs. Joyce’s room at lunch-time today.  The homework focusses on the features of Non-Fiction texts and doesn’t take long to complete.

LRPS is supporting the ‘Give a Damn, Give a Can’ promotion.  The idea is that you bring along food cans to help those families who might struggle to feed their family members.  Any food cans will be gratefully accepted.

Don’t forget about the Dental forms and the Premier’s Reading Challenge forms.

Senior Choir will start next Tuesday lunch-time as the Junior Unit are going on a Walking Excursion today.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Monday 27th April, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Welcome to Mikayla who starts in our grade today.  Mikayla is a Grade 3 girl and we hope you enjoy your new school.

I will explain this week’s homework later on today.  It wont take you long to do it, so let’s see if everyone can join in this week’s game at assembly on Friday.

You will be doing some practice NAPLAN tests this week starting with Maths today.  This will be done after recess.

There are a couple of forms that are due in at school – the dental form and the Premier’s Reading Challenge form.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Homework – Term 2 Week 3

Your homework for this week is to go into the website below and click on the ‘Bug of the Month’ link.  You will then be taken to a page that has the 12 months of the year on it, each with a different bug.  You then click on one of those months and look at the information about that particular bug.  Your task is to post / write down at least 3 different Non-Fiction features that are used on that particular page.

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I was really impressed with the way that you worked on the publishing of your ANZAC Day facts yesterday.  We will be spending the first hour this morning going on with them.

Maths Rotations will be the hour before recess today.  After recess you will be having SEDA, weather permitting.

We have got a new girl starting in our grade on Monday.  Her name is Mikayla and she is in Grade 3.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Thursday 23rd April, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I will be giving you a chance to publish some of the facts that you have learned about ANZAC Day today.  I was very impressed with the learning that you did yesterday afternoon about the emblems of ANZAC Day.  This information can be included in your published piece.

Don’t forget that your homework is due tomorrow morning.  You can do your homework on the website information I handed out yesterday or you can do it on our blog.

The school has received 50 more $2 ANZAC Day badges which you may purchase.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Dear 3 / 4 K,

Well done to those children who have already completed their homework.  It was really good to see so many children go to Mrs. Joyce’s room at lunchtime yesterday.  These children will be playing the game at assembly this Friday.  I will be photocopying hard copies of the information for those children who would like to do their homework on a piece of paper.  It is expected that all children will complete their homework by Friday morning at 8.45 am.

Don’t forget to bring back your Premier’s Reading Challenge forms.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin

Tuesday 21st April, 2015

Dear 3 / 4 K,

I hope you enjoyed your 3 day long weekend.  The teachers were very busy at school yesterday learning even more about the Inquiry Learning process.  We will be beginning our Inquiry Unit for this term next week.  Our focus this week will be on ANZAC Day, which is this Saturday.

I have posted this week’s homework onto our blog.  It gets you to look at the 2 ANZAC Day links and to record some facts.  Homework is due by 8.45 am this Friday.  You can go to Mrs. Joyce’s room at lunch time today where you can complete the homework on one of the I-pads.  I have also got a paper copy of the information on one of the sites if you would like to do it by hand.  Either way, it is expected that all children will complete their homework by Friday morning.

Have a great day,

From Mr. Kilmartin
